This is the exciting scene which greeted us at 8am this morning.

Big bobcats and big action on the small block of the Exploding! Shed House. After a very long and drawn out gestation it is exciting indeed to see this project progressing in the real world at last. The site works team will spend the next couple of days clearing, compacting, digging trenches and installing soak wells. After that comes the plumbing and electrical run-ins and then the ground slab. This is a wee little house so things will roll out rather quickly from this point. The builder is quietly confident that he can have the house ready to hand-over by the first week of November – a 3month build! Fingers crossed.

In the meantime, our element of aesthetic frivolity – the agricultural cladding that will form half the walls and the roof of the house – has been ordered from the UK and will be loaded onto a steamer in the next couple of weeks. We’ll write a bit about the materials and other selections in a future update, so keep an eye on this blog. In the meantime we have some work to do…
