Recent adventures and deadlines have meant we haven’t had a spare second to update the goings on at House Roux, so here is a big ol’ bumper edition showing the growth of the building over the last few weeks.
Carpenters Mark & Howard have been working around the clock to raise the walls, the roof and the ceilings, and it shows. Timber is a great structural material for many reasons – it’s fast, it requires minimal trades on site, it’s good for the environment and best of all, if your architect thinks that one window would be so much better if it were raised by 150mm then Mark & Howard can change it with a minimum of fuss and swearing.
The spaces are really taking shape now, especially the main living area with its raked ceilings and multiple pitches. We are having a great time working on this project and it’s been exciting watching our clients discover those aspects of the home which they couldn’t quite work out in the drawings, but trusted their architect to create for them.

Next week: the roof!
